Locks
he pulls out a stick of eyeliner,
his rat tail has bloomed
into locks
thick as dark feathers
delicately he draws
a thin black line
under each eye
he pulls up a skirt
with violet frills
and tiny chains
whispers to the reflection
you are a beautiful girl
he swabs her lips
with pink lipstick
shimmering like crystals
each stroke banishing
the bent glares
of the world

My name is Seren Gagne. I have a grey kitten named Sheblu and a lovely calico named Shiek. I really resonate with this quote from Lao Tzu: “The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao, the name that can be named is not the eternal name, the nameless is the origin of Heaven and Earth, the named is the father of myriad thing.”
